St. Francis of Assisi saw all of creation as a gift from God, one that needs to be protected and cared for. For this reason, he is the patron saint of the environment and animals. Born in Italy in 1182, his devotion to his “brother and sister creatures” continues to be celebrated today.  On or near his feast day of Oct. 4th, followers around the world salute his legacy with “blessing of the animals” events and services.  Father Rosenbaum invites all animals, great and small, to the the front steps of the church on Saturday, October 2nd at 10:00 AM, where they will receive a special blessing.  All animals are reminded to have their owners on a leash, if necessary!
