All volunteers and employees who interact with children are required to comply with the following 3 mandates.

PA law now details particular background checks required for volunteers who interact with children.

I. Clearances –  All volunteers need 3 clearances

1. Child Abuse Clearance Form (Act 1510- create login and apply.

2, PA Criminal Record Certificate-Click the yellow box for new record checks (volunteer only).  Read and accept.  Follow the directions.  Be sure to keep a copy of your control number!

3. IF you have lived in PA for the past 10 consecutive years,  Print and sign this disclosure form.  Disclosure forms are also available from the PRE office.

3.  If you have NOT lived in PA for the past consecutive 10 years, Register for Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprinting– Use a credit card to register for fingerprinting.  Then make an appointment at an approved location.

II.  Mandatory Reporting

According to PA law all volunteers and employees who interact with youth  are Mandatory Reporters of suspected child abuse and are required to complete this online course.  Print the certificate of completion and return to the PRE office.

**Note:  You should be taking Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse  rrca-1072.  There are other courses available which are also acceptable, but they are longer and more involved than what is needed.

III.  Diocesan Requirements

In addition, the Altoona-Johnstown Diocese requires all employees and volunteers who will be working with youth to participate in their Safe Environment Program.

To register for and take the Safe Environment Class click here.   The class is not compatible with Google Chrome, smartphones or tablets.

The forms needed for the Safe Environment Program can be found here. Please submit all forms to the St. Clement Parish Religious Education department rather than directly to the diocese.  Thank you.
